Hi and welcome to your online version of Matamata’s only personally owned and operated magazine-style local newspaper. You will note right from the front page that Scene is priceless, personal, quirky and promotes all that our beautiful district has to offer in a completely positive, colourful and vibrant way.

So what’s it about? Well… the first edition was produced in May 2005 and in the years since,it became a very popular fortnightly community read. So much so, that we went weekly at the start of 2019. All content is locally-based with a strong focus on encouraging local shopping, local support and most of all, progressive growth of one of the most centrally located and accessible districts in the Waikato.

Regular contributors provide a range of relevant and interesting reports from fishing to local theatre, and of course – wherever possible – we are right there on the spot to help celebrate all the achievements, celebrations and good news that happens, as it happens.

Scene is distributed free to all urban and rural addresses throughout the Matamata and Tirau area up to and including RD3 and 4 Putaruru, Wardville, Walton, Waharoa, Richmond Downs and Okauia. Of course (as you are reading), the full version is also available online with no fees or registration process.

If you would like further information about advertising, editorial or have general enquiries, don’t hesitate to give us a bell – keep it local, keep it Scene!
